Nepal Inventory

Kathmandu 

As a preview to my posts about Nepal, I'd like to share a little inventory of observations (mostly for the trek part).  I like to do this from time to time for places I visit.


Times I fell during the trek - 4

Full meals eaten during the trek - 4 or 5

Times I wanted to quit because I was ill - innumerable

Insect bites - 2 - elbow & foot, + a weird rash on my hands, that had no symptoms

New friends made - 20 +

Dal Bhat Eaten - 3

Maximum Altitude - 3210 meters or 10,531.50 feet

Times a porter had to carry my day pack because I was ill - 4

Snow caps seen - too many to mention

Times the locals, our guides and our porters called mountains hills - innumerable

Times trekking poles saved me - over 50

Mantras used - 4

Smiles - a bazillion

Villages seen along the route of trek - 15 +/- (You can't believe where people live)

Guest Houses/ Tea Houses stayed - 4

Amazing porters in my group - 5

Group size - 13

Stone Stairs - Thousands (literally)

Pre-dawn hike - 1

Sunrise - 3

Open Air Cremations - 5 (at a Hindu Temple in Kathmandu)

UNESCO sites seen - 4 (Kathmandu)

Monkeys - 20 +

Teas consumed - at least 50

Pictures taken - Over 1,000

Stuppas - 3

Cows roaming the streets - 15-20

Prayer wheels - hundreds

Prayer flags - thousands

Traffic accidents seen - 2 (shocking considering their traffic and driving)
