Series Writing

Meet An Artisan

Merriam Webster defines an artisan as a worker who practices a trade or handicraft or one that produces something in limited quantities often using traditional methods. As a part of a new series I will be interviewing artisans that I meet on the road. I am interested in all parts of their craft, creative process, how their art relates to their culture and how it is viewed by their society.  I have a base set of questions but plan to allow the interview to flow into the place where it becomes a conversation and less so an interview. I love to hear people talk about their passion and this is another way of doing that.

Taxi Talks

I don't take taxis often, but when I do I always chat up the driver. For an introvert this is pretty unusual. I do this because they are a wealth of local information and they usually have something interesting or hilarious to say. I also remember my Dad doing this a child and being  kind of uncomfortable with it but he always found out uncommon things. I guess I picked it up along the way. These short interactions serve as amusement and little moments in time when you and the taxi driver seem to speak freely. I have decided to catalog some of these and share. If you don't chat up taxi drivers, you should, you never know what you might find out.
